1. On‑Street Parking

You can park on most downtown streets for free, but there's a 2‑hour limit enforced Monday–Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Outside of those hours—evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays—street parking is generally free with no time restrictions

2. All‑Day Free Parking Lots

If you plan to stay longer downtown, three free all‑day public parking lots are conveniently located within a block or two of the heart of downtown:

• Red Bear Lot – near the south end of Craven Street by South Front Street

• Gold Bear Lot – at the Farmer’s Market near South Front & Hancock Streets (note: may have limited hours on Saturdays)

• Black Bear Lot – at the corner of New & Hancock Streets

3. Paid Parking

• The Pollock Street Lot (across from City Hall) has been converted to paid parking:

  • $1/hour, capped at $8/day

  • Additional $0.45 transaction fee

  • Sundays remain free
